Eva Mendes recalls working with Ryan Gosling.
Mendes, 50, spoke on Today Tuesday about meeting Gosling, 43, on the 2012 film The Place Beyond the Pines.
"I've never done anything like that," she remarked of working alongside her partner. "The way he works, his commitment to his craft, how he wants to make everything as best as it can be — and that means making his costars as best as they can be."
"Unfortunately — or fortunately — there's only one Ryan, so I pretty much stopped acting after that," said.
After meeting on The Place Beyond the Pines set, Mendes and Gosling started dating. After that movie's release,
Mendes has only six acting parts and one film credit, 2014's Lost River, which Gosling wrote and directed as his directorial debut.
Private couple Gosling and Mendes have two daughters. The couple had Esmeralda Amada in September 2014 and Amada Lee in April 2016.
Mendes told Today that retiring from acting after more than a decade was easy.
